Introduction
Living with diabetes can be tough, making healthy meals hard to find. Busy lives make cooking healthy meals a challenge. I was looking online for “food delivery service for diabetics”. Besides one service there was no other services specifically for people with Diabetes. I saw a few services that stated they had “diabetic-friendly” meals. CookUnity was on top of the list. So I decided to try it out.
CookUnity’s Menu Options
CookUnity has a huge menu and you have the ability to search by cuisines, nutrition, proteins and, what to avoid.

Cuisines:
There are a bunch of cuisines to choose from, e.g American, Asian, Caribbean, European, French, Indian. Italian, Latin American, Mediterranean, Mexican and Middle Eastern.
My Diabetic Friendly Meal Selections
Diabetics should choose low-carb, low-sugar meals. So keeping that in mind I tried out the following meals:
- Braised Cajun chicken with steamed broccoli
- Lime hanger steak with chimichurri sauce
- Grilled Greek chicken salad
- Mediterranean chicken thighs with artichokes
- Fiery Turkey-Stuffed Poblano Pepper with Avocado Crema
- Adobo Flank Steak
They were all delicious and did not spike my sugar levels. It was just a regular rise that I get with other healthier meals.
Trying a Higher-Carb Option
I could not resist the urge to order a meal or two from the regular menu so I ordered:
- Mushroom & Swiss Burger with Sweet Potato Fries (I ate only half the bun)
- Spinach & Fetha Stuffed Chicken with Roasted Potatoes & Onions
- Piri Piri Chicken Thighs
- Chicken Tikka Masala
So of course my readings with above meals were slightly higher but I was able to keep them around 180 mg/DL. Some things I did, to reduce carbs were:
- Removed half a bun from the burger
- Only ate half portion of rice
